Anni Piiroinen is a doctoral researcher in cultural anthropology at the University of Oulu. With a background in science and technology studies, she is particularly interested in how agricultural environments are shaped by technoscience. Her doctoral research is focused on carbon farming, which seeks to increase the concentration of carbon in soils through various agricultural methods. While policymakers, scientists and companies are promoting carbon farming as an effective way to mitigate climate change, Anni examines what this new emphasis on carbon means for farmers, their livelihoods, and the future of regenerative agriculture in Finland.
