Antonia Modelhart

University assistant | PhD candidate

University of Vienna

Antonia Modelhart (she/her) is a PhD student and researcher at the Political Science Department of the University of Vienna with a background in medical anthropology. She is currently working on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), focusing on the microbiopolitics of hygiene and AMR governance in hospitals. Antonia is interested in the tension of AMR as a pressing Global Health issue and the mundane encounters with (resistant) bacteria in hospital work. After conducting observations and interviews in German-speaking countries, she is excited to get to know the – in AMR expert discourses – omnipresent and highly regarded nordic countries of Europe in her attempt to follow the mapping of AMR in Europe.

Antonia stayed at the CSSM as a fellow from August until October 2023.
