Kirsty Hendry

Artist-in-Residence

Kirsty is an artist and facilitator based in Glasgow, Scotland who develops projects exploring bodily knowledges and science fictions. Kirsty and their bacterial collaborators work across writing, artist moving image, and other practices of metabolising information.

Kirsty’s work is often collaborative, creating and developing methods of co-production to facilitate collective enquiry within community engagement and participatory contexts. This can include the general public through workshops and public programming; with a wide range of community groups; and with interdisciplinary groups of artists and/or professionals from music, science, performing arts, health & social care.

Selected projects include: Working with Waste, research symposium convened by Lucy Beech at Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF (2022), Navel Gazing for Collective Gallery’s Satellites 2020 Programme; Reader’s Digest commissioned by Market Gallery Glasgow as part of Reproductive Technologies (2019); Self-Service, publication and events programme in collaboration with Ilona Sagar at Centre for Contemporary Art and GoMA for Glasgow International 2018; So You See Me at Cooper Gallery, Dundee (2017); and Tenderpixel: Futures, ICA, London, UK (2015).

Kirsty has undertaken residencies at The Centre for Contemporary Art (Glasgow) and Hospitalfield House (Arbroath). They are also the Learning & Engagement Programme Manager at Glasgow Sculpture Studios.
